THE THIRD SUMMIT OF THE AFRICAN, CARIBBEAN AND PACIFIC GROUP (ACP) of states opened in Nadi, Fiji, with delegates expected to discuss their collective strategy for trade negotiations with the EU, currently slated for September, and a draft policy statement.
While the ACP and EU authorities hope to sign economic agreements ending non-preferential trade pacts under WTO guidelines, the leaders of the 78 ACP countries are expected to solicit the EU for compensation for ending the privileged access that ACP states enjoy in certain EU markets. |
