Japanese diplomat Yukiya Amano was elected director-general the United Nations nuclear watchdog on Thursday. Looming challenges in the politically sensitive post include Iran's nuclear program, blocked investigations into alleged military nuclear activities in Iran and Syria, and North Korean nuclear tests.
